Dua When Breaking the Fast
An authentic statement of the Prophet (ﷺ) regarding what he (ﷺ) would say after breaking his fast.
ذَهَبَ الظَّمَأُ وَابْتَلَّتِ العُرُوقُ وَثَبَتَ الأَجْرُ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ
Dhahaba al-ẓama’u wabtallati al-‘urūqu wa thabata al-ajru in shā’ Allah
The thirst has gone, the veins are moistened, and the reward is certain, if Allah wills.
Another Simple Dua for Iftar
The Prophet ﷺ would recite this concise dua at the time of iftar, expressing thanks to Allah.
اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ صُمْتُ وَعَلَى رِزْقِكَ أَفْطَرْتُ
Allahumma laka ṣumtu wa ‘alā rizqika afṭartu
O Allah! I fasted for You, and with Your provision I break my fast.
General Dua for Wellbeing When Breaking Fast
Pray for goodness in this life and the next as you break your fast, as taught in the Qur'an.
رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
Rabbana ātinā fid-dunyā ḥasanah wa fil-ākhirati ḥasanah waqinā ‘adhāban-nār
Our Lord, grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.
Dua for Acceptance of Good Deeds
After breaking fast, seek Allah's acceptance for all your worship and deeds with this Quranic supplication.
رَبَّنَا تَقَبَّلْ مِنَّا إِنَّكَ أَنتَ السَّمِيعُ العَلِيمُ
Rabbana taqabbal minnā innaka anta as-samī‘u al-‘alīm
Our Lord, accept [this] from us. Indeed, You are the Hearing, the Knowing.
