Dua at the Time of Breaking Fast
Recite this dua just before eating or drinking at sunset to mark the close of your fast, following the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ.
Allahumma innī laka ṣumtu, wa bika āmantu, wa ʿalayka tawakkaltu, wa ʿalā rizqika afṭartu.
O Allah! I fasted for You, and I believe in You, and I put my trust in You, and with Your provision I break my fast.
Dua for When Breaking the Fast
Make this dua as you prepare to end your fast, seeking Allah’s acceptance for your day of obedience.
Dhahaba aẓ-ẓama’u wabtallati al-ʿurūqu wa thabata al-ajru in shā’a Allāh.
The thirst is gone, the veins are moistened, and the reward is confirmed, if Allah wills.
General Supplication at Iftar
Invoke this verse asking Allah for goodness in this world and the Hereafter with sincere intention at the time of iftar.
Rabbana ātinā fi d-dunyā ḥasanatan wa fi l-ākhirati ḥasanatan wa qinā ʿadhāba an-nār.
Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.
Supplication for Forgiveness at Iftar
Seek forgiveness for shortcomings while fasting; use this dua to humbly ask Allah for pardon as you break your fast.
Rabbi ighfir lī wa rḥamnī wa anta khayru ar-rāḥimīn.
My Lord, forgive me and have mercy upon me, for You are the best of the merciful.
