Dua for pain relief (including headache)
This dua, taught by the Prophet ﷺ, can be recited for relief from pain anywhere in the body, including headaches.
أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ وَقُدْرَتِهِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَجِدُ وَأُحَاذِرُ
A‘ūdhu billāhi wa qudratihi min sharri mā ajidu wa uhādhir.
I seek refuge in Allah and His Power from the evil of what I feel and fear.
Dua when feeling unwell
This Quranic dua can be recited for any kind of illness, discomfort, or pain, including a headache.
رَبِّ إِنِّي مَسَّنِيَ الضُّرُّ وَأَنتَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ
Rabbi innī massaniya al-ḍurru wa anta arḥamur-rāḥimīn.
My Lord, indeed adversity has touched me, and You are the Most Merciful of the merciful.
Dua using Bismillah for pain
The Prophet ﷺ would say this for pain in any part of the body, including a headache, while placing his hand on the affected area.
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ
Bismillāh.
In the Name of Allah.
Dua of seeking healing from Allah
This supplication asks Allah for healing, acknowledging He alone cures all ailments, including headaches.
اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ النَّاسِ أَذْهِبِ الْبَأْسَ، اشْفِ، أَنْتَ الشَّافِي لَا شِفَاءَ إِلَّا شِفَاؤُكَ شِفَاءً لَا يُغَادِرُ سَقَمًا
Allāhumma rabba-n-nāsi, adhhib al-ba'sa, ishfi, anta ash-shāfī, lā shifā'a illā shifā'uka, shifā'an lā yughadiru saqaman.
O Allah, Lord of mankind, remove the harm and cure. You are the Healer, there is no healing except Your healing, a healing that leaves no sickness behind.
