Dua at the moment of breaking fast

Sunan Abi Dawood 2358

This is the supplication most commonly reported from the Prophet ﷺ for when one breaks their fast at iftar.

ARABIC

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي لَكَ صُمْتُ، وَبِكَ آمَنْتُ، وَعَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْتُ، وَعَلَى رِزْقِكَ أَفْطَرْتُ

Transliteration

Allahumma inni laka sumtu, wa bika aamantu, wa ‘alayka tawakkaltu, wa ‘ala rizqika aftartu

TRANSLATION

O Allah, I fasted for You, and I believe in You, and I put my trust in You, and with Your provision I break my fast.

Sunan Abi Dawood 2357

A concise dua authentically reported that the Prophet ﷺ used when breaking his fast.

ARABIC

ذَهَبَ الظَّمَأُ وَابْتَلَّتِ الْعُرُوقُ وَثَبَتَ الْأَجْرُ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ

Transliteration

Dhahaba al-zama’u wabtallat al-‘urooqu wa thabatal ajru in shaa Allah

TRANSLATION

The thirst is gone, the veins are moistened, and the reward is confirmed, if Allah wills.

Surah Al-Baqarah (2:201)

Asking Allah for blessings in the food He has provided at the time of opening the fast.

ARABIC

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Transliteration

Rabbana aatina fid-dunya hasanatan wa fil-akhirati hasanatan wa qina ‘adhaban-naar

TRANSLATION

Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.

Sahih Muslim 2697

A dua to seek Allah’s mercy and forgiveness at a time when supplications are answered.

ARABIC

رَبِّي اغْفِرْ لِي وَارْحَمْنِي وَاهْدِنِي وَارْزُقْنِي

Transliteration

Rabbi ighfir li warhamni wahdini warzuqni.

TRANSLATION

My Lord, forgive me, have mercy on me, guide me, and provide for me.
