Dua for Asking Allah for Rain
This dua is recited when asking Allah to send down beneficial rain during times of drought or need.
Allahumma isqinā ghaythan mughīthan, marīʿan, nāfiʿan ghayra ḍārrin, ʿājilan ghayra ājil.
O Allah, give us rain that is helpful, abundant, beneficial, not harmful, soon and not delayed.
Dua When Rain Falls
The Prophet (ﷺ) would say this when rain started to fall, seeking Allah’s mercy with it.
Allahumma ṣayyiban nāfiʿā
O Allah, (bring) beneficial rain.
Dua for Protection from Harmful Rain
Recite this when fearing harm from heavy or excessive rain, asking Allah to divert its harm.
Allahumma ḥawālaynā wa lā ʿalaynā. Allahumma ʿalā al-ākāmi wa al-ẓirābi wa buṭūni al-awdiyati wa manābiti ash-shajar.
O Allah, (let it be) around us and not upon us. O Allah, (let it fall) on the hills, small mountains, valleys, and the places where trees grow.
Dua of Gratitude After Rain
After rain, the Prophet (ﷺ) expressed gratitude to Allah, recognizing His mercy.
Muṭirnā bifaḍlillāhi wa raḥmatih.
We have been given rain by the grace and mercy of Allah.
