ARABIC

رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لَنَا وَلِإِخْوَانِنَا الَّذِينَ سَبَقُونَا بِالْإِيمَانِ

Transliteration

Rabbana ighfir lana wa li-ikhwanina alladhina sabaquna bil-imani

Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith.

Dua for Widening the Grave

Sahih Muslim 963

Recite this supplication to ask Allah to grant ease and widen the grave for the deceased.

ARABIC

اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَهُ وَارْحَمْهُ وَعَافِهِ وَاعْفُ عَنْهُ وَأَكْرِمْ نُزُلَهُ وَوَسِّعْ مُدْخَلَهُ وَاغْسِلْهُ بِالْمَاءِ وَالثَّلْجِ وَالْبَرَدِ وَنَقِّهِ مِنَ الْخَطَايَا كَمَا نَقَّيْتَ الثَّوْبَ الأَبْيَضَ مِنَ الدَّنَسِ وَأَبْدِلْهُ دَارًا خَيْرًا مِنْ دَارِهِ وَأَهْلاً خَيْرًا مِنْ أَهْلِهِ وَزَوْجًا خَيْرًا مِنْ زَوْجِهِ وَأَدْخِلْهُ الْجَنَّةَ وَأَعِذْهُ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ أَوْ مِنْ عَذَابِ النَّارِ

Transliteration

Allāhumma aghfir lahu warḥamhu wa-ʿāfihi waʿfu ʿanhu wa-akrim nuzulahu wa-wa-swiʿ mudkhalahu waghsilhu bi l-mā'i wa-th-thalji wa-l-baradi wa-naqwihi mina l-khaṭāyā kamā naqqayta t-ththawba l-abyaḍa mina d-danasi wa-abdilhu dāran khayran min dārihi wa-ahlāan khayran min ahlihi wa-zawjan khayran min zawjihi wa-adkhilhu l-jannata wa-aʿidhhu min ʿadhābi l-qabri aw min ʿadhābi n-nāri

TRANSLATION

O Allah, forgive him, have mercy upon him, give him peace and absolve him. Receive him with honour and make his grave spacious; wash him with water, snow and hail. Cleanse him from faults as Thou wouldst cleanse a white garment from impurity. Requite him with an abode more excellent than his abode, with a family better than his family, and with a mate better than his mate. Admit him to the Garden, and protect him from the torment of the grave and the torment of the Fire.

إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّآ إِلَيْهِ رَٰجِعُونَ

Transliteration

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un

TRANSLATION

Indeed we belong to Allāh, and indeed to Him we will return

Dua for Believers when entering Graveyard

Sunan Ibn Majah 1547

The Prophet (ﷺ) used to say this dua when he went out to the graveyard.

ARABIC

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَهْلَ الدِّيَارِ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُسْلِمِينَ وَإِنَّا إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ بِكُمْ لاَحِقُونَ نَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ لَنَا وَلَكُمُ الْعَافِيَةَ

Transliteration

As-salamu ‘alaykum ahlad-diyar minal-mu’minina wal- muslimin, wa inna insha’ Allah bikum lahiqun, nas’alul-laha lana wa lakumul-‘afiyah

TRANSLATION

Peace be upon you, O inhabitants of the abodes, believers and Muslims, and we will join you soon if Allah wills. We ask Allah for well-being for us and for you
