Dua Before Starting Your Journey
Say this dua before you begin driving any vehicle, asking Allah for safety and ease throughout your journey.
Bismillāh, tawakkaltu ʿalā Allāh, wa lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā billāh.
In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and there is no power and no strength except with Allah.
Dua When Mounting Your Vehicle
Recite this dua as you get into your car or any means of transport, acknowledging Allah’s favor in granting you control over it.
Subḥāna alladhī sakhkhara lanā hādhā wa mā kunnā lahu muqrinīn, wa innā ilā rabbinā lamunqalibūn.
Glory is to Him Who has subjected this to us, and we could never have accomplished it [by ourselves]. And to our Lord surely we must return.
Dua for Safety While Driving
Ask Allah for safety and protection from harm as you travel, applicable while driving short or long distances.
Allāhumma innā nas'aluka fī safarinā hādhā al-birra wa-at-taqwā wa mina-l-ʿamali mā tarḍā. Allāhumma hawwin ʿalaynā safaranā hādhā wasṭwi ʿannā buʿdah. Allāhumma anta aṣ-ṣāḥibu fī as-safar wal-khalīfatu fī al-ahl.
O Allah, we ask You for righteousness and piety in this journey of ours, and to do what pleases You. O Allah, make our journey easy and make its distance short for us. O Allah, You are the companion in travel and the guardian of the family.
Dua When Arriving at Your Destination
Upon reaching your destination safely, thank Allah for His protection and guidance during your trip.
Āyibūna tā'ibūna ʿābidūna li-rabbinā ḥāmidūn.
We are returning with repentance and worshipping and praising our Lord.
