Entering the masjid is a blessed moment and an opportunity to seek Allah’s mercy and guidance. Islam teaches us special supplications for this occasion to help us enter with humility and safety. Reciting these duas expresses respect and intention for worship. They also shield us from the shayṭān as we step into the house of Allah.

Dua When Entering the Masjid

Recite this dua when you enter the mosque to seek Allah’s mercy and protection from satan.

ARABIC

اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ

Transliteration

Allāhumma iftaḥ lī abwāba raḥmatik

TRANSLATION

O Allah, open for me the doors of Your mercy.

Dua for Safety from Shayṭān When Entering

Sunan Abu Dawud 466

Say this when you enter so you are protected from shayṭān inside the masjid.

ARABIC

أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ الْعَظِيمِ وَبِوَجْهِهِ الْكَرِيمِ وَسُلْطَانِهِ الْقَدِيمِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ

Transliteration

A‘ūdhu billāhi al-‘aẓīm wa bi-waj'hihi al-karīm wa sulṭānihi al-qadīm min ash-shayṭān ir-rajīm

TRANSLATION

I seek refuge with Allah the Almighty, with His Noble Face, and His Eternal Authority from the accursed devil.

Dua Upon Entering with Right Foot

Sunan Ibn Majah 773

It is Sunnah to enter the masjid with the right foot first and recite this dua for blessings and following the Prophet’s practice.

ARABIC

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَالصَّلَاةُ وَالسَّلَامُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ، اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ

Transliteration

Bismillāh waṣ-ṣalātu was-salāmu ‘alā Rasūlillāh, Allāhumma iftaḥ lī abwāba raḥmatik

TRANSLATION

In the name of Allah, and blessings and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah. O Allah, open for me the doors of Your mercy.

General Supplication for Seeking Good upon Entering

Surah Al-Isra (17:80)

A short general dua for goodness upon entering any place, including the masjid.

ARABIC

رَبِّ أَدْخِلْنِي مُدْخَلَ صِدْقٍ وَأَخْرِجْنِي مُخْرَجَ صِدْقٍ وَاجْعَل لِّي مِن لَّدُنكَ سُلْطَانًا نَّصِيرًا

Transliteration

Rabbi adkhilnī mudkhala ṣidqin wa akhrijni mukhraja ṣidqin waj‘al lī min ladunka sulṭānan naṣīrā

TRANSLATION

My Lord, cause me to enter a sound entrance and to exit a sound exit and grant me from Yourself a supporting authority.
