The Qur’an and Sunnah often emphasise the importance of parents in Islam. Our parents are the ones who bring us into this world and raise us, so it’s important to show them gratitude and pray for them for the sake of Allah (SWT).

Dua for Parents’ Mercy and Forgiveness

Qur’an: Surah Al-Isra (17:24)

A timeless Qur’anic supplication asking Allah to show mercy to our parents just as they showed mercy when raising us. It reflects deep gratitude and humility.

ARABIC

رَّبِّ ارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِي صَغِيرًا

Transliteration

Rabbi irḥamhumā kamā rabbayānī ṣaghīrā

TRANSLATION

“My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up when I was small.”

Dua for Parents’ Health and Wellbeing

Tirmidhi 3388

This heartfelt dua asks Allah to grant parents complete recovery and lasting health. It can be recited when they are unwell or as a daily prayer for their protection and strength.

ARABIC

اللَّهُمَّ اشْفِ وَالِدَيَّ شِفَاءً لَا يُغَادِرُ سَقَمًا

Transliteration

Allāhumma ishfi wālidayya shifā’an lā yugādir saqaman

TRANSLATION

“O Allah, heal my parents with a healing that leaves no sickness behind.”

Dua for Parents Health

Qur’an: Surah Nuh (71:28)

A powerful supplication for parents who have passed away, asking Allah to forgive them and all believing men and women. It’s recommended to recite this often, especially after salah.

ARABIC

رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَلِمَنْ دَخَلَ بَيْتِيَ مُؤْمِنًا وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ

Transliteration

Rabbi ighfir lī wa liwālidayya wa liman dakhala baytiya mu’minan walil-mu’minīna wal-mu’mināt

TRANSLATION

“My Lord, forgive me, my parents, and whoever enters my house a believer, and all believing men and women.”

Dua for Long Life and Righteousness of Parents

Surah Al-Ahqaf (46:15)

This dua asks Allah to bless parents with long, righteous lives filled with health, faith, and good deeds - a beautiful way to honour them in your daily prayers.

ARABIC

اللَّهُمَّ أَطِلْ أَعْمَارَ وَالِدَيَّ فِي طَاعَتِكَ، وَبَارِكْ لَهُمَا فِي صِحَّتِهِمَا وَأَعْمَالِهِمَا

Transliteration

Allāhumma aṭil a‘māra wālidayya fī ṭā‘atik, wa bārik lahumā fī ṣiḥḥatihimā wa a‘mālihimā

TRANSLATION

“O Allah, prolong the lives of my parents in obedience to You, and bless them in their health and their deeds.”
