Dua for Healing the Sick

Recite this supplication when praying for healing for someone who is ill.

ARABIC

أَذْهِبِ الْبَأْسَ رَبَّ النَّاسِ، اشْفِ وَأَنْتَ الشَّافِي، لَا شِفَاءَ إِلَّا شِفَاؤُكَ، شِفَاءً لَا يُغَادِرُ سَقَمًا

Transliteration

Adhhib al-ba’sa rabb an-nās, ishfi wa anta ash-shāfī, lā shifā’a illā shifā’uka, shifā’an lā yughadiru saqaman.

TRANSLATION

Remove the harm, O Lord of mankind, and heal [him/her], for You are the Healer. There is no healing but Yours—a healing that leaves behind no sickness.

Dua Seeking Allah’s Mercy for the Sick

This dua asks Allah for good health and His mercy upon the sick.

ARABIC

اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ النَّاسِ، مُذْهِبَ الْبَأْسِ، اشْفِ أَنْتَ الشَّافِي، لَا شَافِيَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، شِفَاءً لَا يُغَادِرُ سَقَمًا

Transliteration

Allāhumma rabb an-nās, mudhhib al-ba’s, ishfi anta ash-shāfī, lā shāfiya illā anta, shifā’an lā yughadiru saqaman.

TRANSLATION

O Allah, Lord of mankind, remove the hardship and cure [him/her]. You are the Healer, and there is no healing except Yours, a healing that leaves no sickness behind.

Dua When Visiting a Sick Person

Say this supplication while visiting someone who is ill as taught by the Prophet ﷺ.

ARABIC

لَا بَأْسَ طَهُورٌ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ

Transliteration

Lā ba’sa, tahūrun in shā’ Allāh.

TRANSLATION

No harm, it will be a purification (from sins), if Allah wills.

Our Lord, remove from us the torment; indeed, we are believers.
