Dua for Healing a Sick Person

Say this when visiting or praying for someone who is ill, as taught by the Prophet ﷺ.

ARABIC

أَذْهِبِ الْبَأْسَ رَبَّ النَّاسِ، اشْفِ أَنْتَ الشَّافِي لاَ شِفَاءَ إِلاَّ شِفَاؤُكَ، شِفَاءً لاَ يُغَادِرُ سَقَمًا

Transliteration

Adhhib il-ba’sa Rabb an-nās, ishfi anta ash-Shāfī, lā shifā’a illā shifā’uk, shifā’an lā yughadiru saqaman.

TRANSLATION

Remove the harm, Lord of the people. Cure, for You are the Healer; there is no cure except Your cure—a cure that leaves no illness.

Dua for When Feeling Sick

Make this supplication when you are unwell to seek relief and healing from Allah.

ARABIC

اللهم رب الناس، أذهب البأس، اشفِ أنت الشافي، لا شفاء إلا شفاؤك، شفاءً لا يغادر سقماً

Transliteration

Allāhumma Rabb an-nās, adhhib al-ba’sa, ishfi anta ash-Shāfī, lā shifā’a illā shifā’uka, shifā’an lā yughadiru saqaman.

TRANSLATION

O Allah, Lord of mankind! Remove the trouble. Heal, for You are the Healer. No healing but Yours, healing that leaves no disease.

Dua for Protection from All Harm

Recite this over the ill person for Allah’s protection. It’s part of a Sunnah ruqyah practice.

ARABIC

بِسْمِ اللهِ أَرْقِيكَ، مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ يُؤْذِيكَ، مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ نَفْسٍ أَوْ عَيْنٍ حَاسِدٍ، اللَّهُ يَشْفِيكَ، بِسْمِ اللهِ أَرْقِيكَ

Transliteration

Bismillāhi arqīka, min kulli shay’in yu’dhīka, min sharri kulli nafsin aw ‘aynin ḥāsid, Allāhu yashfīka, bismillāhi arqīka.

TRANSLATION

In the Name of Allah, I recite (ruqyah) for you, from everything that harms you, from the evil of every soul or envious eye. May Allah heal you. In the Name of Allah, I recite for you.

Rabbi innī massaniya al-ḍurru wa anta arḥamu ar-rāḥimīn.

TRANSLATION

My Lord, indeed adversity has touched me, and You are the Most Merciful of the merciful.
