Dua for Healing a Sick Person
Say this when visiting or praying for someone who is ill, as taught by the Prophet ﷺ.
Adhhib il-ba’sa Rabb an-nās, ishfi anta ash-Shāfī, lā shifā’a illā shifā’uk, shifā’an lā yughadiru saqaman.
Remove the harm, Lord of the people. Cure, for You are the Healer; there is no cure except Your cure—a cure that leaves no illness.
Dua for When Feeling Sick
Make this supplication when you are unwell to seek relief and healing from Allah.
Allāhumma Rabb an-nās, adhhib al-ba’sa, ishfi anta ash-Shāfī, lā shifā’a illā shifā’uka, shifā’an lā yughadiru saqaman.
O Allah, Lord of mankind! Remove the trouble. Heal, for You are the Healer. No healing but Yours, healing that leaves no disease.
Dua for Protection from All Harm
Recite this over the ill person for Allah’s protection. It’s part of a Sunnah ruqyah practice.
Bismillāhi arqīka, min kulli shay’in yu’dhīka, min sharri kulli nafsin aw ‘aynin ḥāsid, Allāhu yashfīka, bismillāhi arqīka.
In the Name of Allah, I recite (ruqyah) for you, from everything that harms you, from the evil of every soul or envious eye. May Allah heal you. In the Name of Allah, I recite for you.
Dua of Prophet Ayyub (Job) in Illness
Recite this powerful Qur’anic dua for relief and patience during severe illness or difficulty.
Rabbi innī massaniya al-ḍurru wa anta arḥamu ar-rāḥimīn.
My Lord, indeed adversity has touched me, and You are the Most Merciful of the merciful.
